Adult Literacy Education Core Curriculum (ALECC)

The Literacy Assistance Center has developed a core curriculum for new and experienced adult educators under a contract with the New York State Department of Education. ALECC is a comprehensive basic professional development program consisting of 7 sessions totaling 24 course hours, supplemented by Internet-based discussions and assignments. Starting this year, it will be mandatory for all new adult literacy instructors in New York State-funded adult literacy programs.

The LAC is also prepared to modify ALECC to suit the needs of any other state, group, or organization. For more information on using ALECC, please contact Marilyn J. Rymniak at marilynr@lacnyc.org or 212.803.3303.
