Introduction and Session Overview

Activity 1. Evaluating Websites

You are an instructor for a GED class. The class is working on a thematic unit on immigration, and you are introducing some print and Internet resources into your lessons. Rather than just go into the Internet and search on "immigration," you want to lead your students to sites that you think will be useful to them and will enhance classroom activities.

Review the sites listed below. Which ones would you use with your class and why?

Activity 2. Selecting Educational Software

You have a computer lab to be used for students to work alone, in addition to the time they spend in class. This lab is staffed by an instructional technologist. You are part of a team of teachers that is to choose which software to purchase. You have a budget of $25,000 and essentially can buy what you want.
How
will you decide on what you will purchase?
What will you purchase and why?
What steps will you go through to make a selection?

Activity 3. The LINCS System
