Phrasal Verbs

Let's imagine that you have been teaching phrasal verbs, a difficult subject for most nonnative speakers. You can do a short lesson on the web to enhance your class. This particular lesson uses Dave's ESL Cafe at www.eslcafe.com.

Have students work in pairs in the lab. Students will need five index cards to write the phrasal verbs on. When they go to the web site, each pair will get different verbs. Let them write their examples with definitions and sentences on their index cards. After your computer class, have students share their phrasal verbs with other pairs. They should teach the verbs to other students. After that have them write their own sentences using new phrasal verbs. This can be done in pairs or groups.
